About Reflexology
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, which are believed to correspond to different organs and systems in the body. By stimulating these points, reflexologists aim to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and encourage the body's natural healing processes.
Reflexology is complementary to medical treatments. It can be used alongside traditional care, but it’s not an alternative to it, and reflexologists don’t diagnose or treat illnesses.
What to expect?
You will be asked to complete a consultation form which collects information about your health and life style. This is so that reflexology sessions can be tailored to your needs. Some people come for reflexology as an opportunity to relax and recharge, while others come because they are experiencing certain symptoms, e.g. the menopause, back pain, digestive disorders, etc.
Occasionally, certain medical conditions may mean reflexology is not the right therapy for you. The therapist will discuss this with you if this is the case. Naturally, if you are suffering from any fungal infections, verrucas or injuries to feet, reflexology will have to wait until your feet have recovered.
The treatment is carried out on a reclining chair, and the reflexologist only requires access to your feet. Clients tend to find reflexology very relaxing, and often fall asleep during treatments.
